Accountability

Although the United Way nationally is made up of numerous chapters established worldwide, each chapter is founded and run by people represented within that community. Decisions are made locally, resources are identified locally, and results are achieved locally.

UWNC was established in 1955 and is governed by 5 county volunteer boards that meet monthly and a board of governors that meet quarterly. Allocations committees are chosen annually to determine the distribution of funds. Through this system, member agencies offer accountability for stewardship of resources while short and long term results are annually reviewed.
