It doesn’t matter how big or how small, every business can give back to the community. Every business can hold a UWNC campaign, and offer its employees the opportunity to give to their community through payroll deduction.
Payroll deduction is what set United Way apart from other non-profits during its inception more than 50 years ago, and it remains one of the most valuable giving tools today. Payroll deduction allows individuals to have a donation taken out of their paycheck that then goes to non-profits in their county.
Most people don’t notice a few dollars coming out of their paycheck, the recipients of this generosity most certainly do. These dollars, when added to those given by thousands of donors across the north state community, make a big difference in the quality of lives for our families, friends and neighbors. Plus, it’s easy! Donors don’t have to worry about mailing out a check each month and can divide their total annual donation across a year. As little as $10, automatically deducted from each paycheck, is all it takes to feed a family of 4 for a week, provide hospice care for a senior community member, or cover a youth’s abuse counseling and recovery.
